"""Working animals represent a large investment in training and resources, and each animal’s performance is essential to meeting the service goals. Like humans, some working horses appear to experience burn-out, and behavioral and physical issues are the primary reasons for working horse turnover. Burn-out models developed for human employees and athletes provide a useful framework for working animals, for whom task demands are both psychological and physical.
